Wedding Planning Checklist

Wedding planning is really exciting but it can be a daunting task. It can be tough to keep all the information straight, and even to decide where to start. That is why we have prepared a step-by-step wedding checklist to help you keep on top of everything.

12 months to go

• Discuss with your partner the type of wedding and time of year
• Decide how many guests you want to have and make a rough list
• Think about the style of the wedding and the venue
• Set a budget
• Start researching venue/ceremony locations and book them
• Start researching wedding suppliers and services such as wedding photographers, videographers, entertainment, florists, makeup artists, etc
• Think about your bridal party

8-10 months to go

• Research and book ceremony music
• Book entertainment like a band, dancers, comedians, fireworks, fire shows, selfie mirrors, photo booths, etc
• Start looking for your wedding dress
• Think about color scheme and decor
• Research and reserve accommodation for guests
• Start looking for honeymoon options

6-8 months to go

• Order wedding stationery (save-the-dates and invitations, thank you cards, color palette cards, etc)
• Order a wedding cake
• Start thinking about flowers
• Start looking for groom’s suit and bridesmaid dresses
• Book honeymoon destination

4-6 months to go

• Book hair and makeup artist
• Send notification of intention to marry to the registrar
• Order bridesmaids’ dresses
• Get hen and stag party planning
• Buy wedding shoes and accessories
• Book your wedding transport, DJ, and florist

3 months to go

• Buy wedding rings, lingerie, and accessories
• Book fitting appointments
• Organize wedding favors
• Get Best Man and Groomsmen’s suits fitted
• Have any vaccinations needed for the honeymoon
• Choose songs for the first dance, reception entrance, etc
• Arrange food tasting and decide on the menu

2 months to go

• Send wedding invitations
• Purchase gifts for the bridal party, parents, partner
• Attend dress fittings
• Think about your table plan display

4 weeks to go

• Have your final wedding dress fitting
• Confirm details with suppliers
• Collect bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen’s suits
• Send song suggestions to the band or DJ

2 weeks to go

• Collect wedding dress
• Write vows
• Go over a checklist to ensure you haven’t forgotten anything
• Get your something old/new/borrowed/blue (if you’re doing this tradition)

1 week to go

• Chat to the coordinator about placements (band, cake, first dance, etc.) and timings
• Confirm the time of cake delivery
• Give the final guest numbers
• Confirm services/times with wedding suppliers and pass on bridesmaid/best man’s contact number
• Attend wedding rehearsal
• Pack your honeymoon bag
• Create a timetable for your day
• Have lingerie, dressing gown, and all accessories together
• Organize envelopes with payments for suppliers

2-3 days to go

• Have beauty treatments
• Make any last-minute changes to table/seating plans
• Collect the groom’s suit
• Confirm the time the wedding car will pick you up
• Arrange for delivery of flowers to church/venue/home

1 day to go

• Give the list of suppliers to bridesmaids and groomsmen
• Have the rings and wedding accessories ready
• Relax and get a good night’s sleep
